Google Maps starts learning more

Sarah Mitroff, writing for VentureBeat about a recent update to Google Maps:

The update saves your most recent directions in the My Places tab, along with the places where you’ve checked in and starred. You can also access the directions across all the computers that are logged into your Google account. The update is meant for places you may need to reference repeatedly or places you are planning to go to, such as a hotel you’re staying at, or a new restaurant. Instead of searching for the directions repeatedly, Google will remember them.
Oh great, now they know even more about your life -- even where you go on trips, or are planning to go. It's not that they didn't know this before, though, because they did -- they just didn't tell you about it. I guess the new feature is useful to some, but it can also be a privacy concern to others.
