Google's new UI, the clean and the black

Everybody has seen Google’s new search user interface since its release last week. Its clean and nice, in parts; with annoyances.

That top bar didn’t need a change at all and doesn’t match the rest of the white coloring scheme below it either. It should be customizable, but there is no option for this anywhere sadly - even when using iGoogle. If you want them to change the color back or at least have the option to do so, head over here to their contact page.

Next, once you actually type something in, you’ll come to the search results’ interface, which is far better overall. Its much cleaner than the past one and is also more user friendly as well.

The last thing is Gmail’s new interface, which was released a few days after the search engine’s. This is much cleaner and has a lighter, more gray bar above which matches it much better. Its also much more user friendly. The flaw with the new theme is the annoying amount of space that it uses. For instance, look at the gaps between the top right and left buttons and the divider bar below them. These, and the corresponding buttons at the bottom, use far too much space on between the dividers and themselves. But this theme is still a preview so one can’t expect everything from it.

The new search and Gmail themes both have very nice buttons that highlight when the user mouses over them. The glowing effect just makes them look better in general, along with them being bigger.

That’s all for today folks, and its my opinion as well.
