Instagram tries to be Twitter for images, fails disrespectfully

Once-hipster photo sharing service Instagram is now attempting to be a Twitter-esque service for photos -- I'm referring to the news portion of Twitter in which the social network covers many major stories instantaneously. On its blog, Instagram posted photographs of this morning's shooting at the Empire State Building in New York City. This is the first news coverage I've seen on Instagram's part, but apparently there have been a few others.

I'm not so sure such an addition to the service is needed, to be honest. Why would the photo sharing service be posting images of the deceased on its blog? I wish to further ask why the photographer, one "mr_mookie", would be so uncivil as to photograph the event. He added the caption "They shoot, aw made you look! No really tho. Dude got popped!" The Instagram staff must have an extremely low moral code to post this kind of insolent content on the service's main blog. Coverage or not, this is completely superfluous and downright heartless.

Regardless of the photographs, the news of such an event taking place in a public area is appalling. Be sure to pray for the family of this victim.

Update: Instagram has change the photo to one of blood stains on the sidewalk.
