Carninator, a 11-month old Reddit user, has just uploaded thirteen stills of Peter Jackson's upcoming film, The Hobbit, to Imgur. Instead of being from the scenic land of New Zealand, action scenes, or the like, the images show the main characters, all with at least a little facial hair and even axes, bow, and staff in hand. Gandalf is shown in what seems to be more of a portrait, while Bilbo Baggins, played by Martin Freeman (Dr. Watson from BBC One's Sherlock), wears a flamboyant vest and tie in the screen capture of him. Thorin Oakenshield, played by Richard Armitage, draws back his bow stealthily in one still; his ring is rather fun and I'd like to get myself one, if that's possible.

Since the announcement that Jackson would be making Tolkien's work into a film, I've been anticipating the adventure. Even after the official word of the novel being adapted into a trilogy, I continued to anticipate the first of three [hopefully epic] experiences at the local cinema. These stills aren't anything too important, but they do give a great insight into the costume design, which seems to be fancy.

Production stills from earlier this year are available on The Hobbit Blog.
